I use Outlook 2016 since I'm an Office365 subscriber.  I don't know if it 
does those things because I have no need for them.  But my O2016 has been 
solid as a rock since I started using it, even with the El Capitan public 
beta.

I wish I could say about the new version of Apple Mail.  Up until El 
Capitan I had always used it and was pretty pleased with it.  But the 
constant lags and spinning wheel showing up way too often have made me 
put it on the "don't bother" list.
