"Thoth is a Mac Usenet client that was popular many years ago, long 
before the days of Sickbeard and NZBs. Brian Clark made it largely 
unavailable in the mid-00s because it was (surprise!) so widely pirated. 
To get a copy updated for Lion or Mountain Lion (and prior), you had to 
email him and beg to be given the opportunity to purchase a license. 
He'd respond with a very odd and cynical mail saying that you aren't 
serious and you really shouldn't try to get Thoth. But the PayPal door 
was left open, so if you could get past all the negativity, you could 
purchase a copy and get sporadic updates, always accompanied by the most 
morose, whiny prose."
