That's partly thanks to Intel dropping the ball with CPU upgrades -
late arrivals, barely any real changes, etc.

The "Touch Bar" is the only thing new and that's a rather pointless and
ugly addition - just an addition for the sake of having something new
to show off by the look of it.

Unfortunately I don't think Cook nor Ive have anywhere near the ability
to be actually creative like Steve Jobs was.  :-(  Cook is too busy
sticking his nose into political issues and Ive is obsessed with
thinness.

The "entry level" MacBook Pro basically *is* a replacement for the
MacBook Air ... although the MacBook (non-Pro) would be a better option
to replace the redundant MacBook Air.



It may be interesting to see what Apple does with the next iMac (or
perhaps an even larger iPad) now that Microsloth have announced their
28in designer "Surface" that can fold almost flat to the desk ... an
idea Apple patented a while back, but hasn't so far used.
