http://macdevelopertips.com/system/multiple-monitors-specifying-menu-location.html great, the menu bar is on the larger monitor. The system preferences nav buttons are left on the "primary" since the puny laptop screen, larger "secondary" is a common arrangement you'd think the primary migration to secondary would be a bit more complete. Maybe in seaLion...

That was my reaction. I /think/ he's referring to the fact that even if you move the menu bar onto the external display, the F-keys with their shortcuts to certain functions remain on the keyboard attached to the laptop's display. -- Alan Baker Vancouver, British Columbia <http://gallery.me.com/alangbaker/100008/DSCF0162/web.jpg>

Hey this is simple, and it is available NOW. Go to System prefs > Displays > Arrangement You can select which of your monitors is on the left or right, and allows you to just drag the menu bar to whichever monitor you want it on tsk tsk fancy thinking Apple wouldn't make that easy for you :-) David

But the pesky little "previous" and "next" arrow buttons on the top left remained on the config screen of the primary. That's what the post was all about. Oddly this morning the primary display on that macbook pro 2007 15" did not wake up from sleep!!!! I'm typing this from the current run of the mill 1080x1920 secondary (the glossy border looks like an abomination with a thankfully glare free LCD panel. Of course it is a Dell monitor though I'm sure lack of taste is not exclusive to dell) > tsk tsk fancy thinking Apple wouldn't make that easy for you :-) > > David

This is some form of gripe for you? Close and relaunch System Preferences. It will open in the X/Y position you last had it open at, which just so happens to be your secondary monitor right now. Move it to your main monitor. Close System Preferences Open System Preferences Viola, it is now on your main monitor. Go to Display -> Arrangement. Voila, the "nav buttons" are now on your main monitor and the secondary window is on your secondary monitor. You're not seriously suggesting that an application should always open its main window on the main monitor - disregarding where the user has moved it to on the last launch? -- Sandman[.net]
