If you're talking about images, such as trimming, altering contrast, etc, then as far as I'm concerned it's would be unreasonable to expect Pages to do it. It's a page layout program, not an image editor. If I take pix with the DSLR, then I use Lightroom to do some post-processing on the images, including light levels, and lens corrections for such as distortion, chromatic aberration, and vignetting. Did Colorit do that for specific cameras and lenses? -- New Socialism consists essentially in being seen to have your heart in the right place whilst your head is in the clouds and your hand is in someone else's pocket.

Graphic Converter is capable of all the things for which you're using Photos and much more. It appears to me that, for no apparent reason, you've built in two extraneous steps, by using Photos. Is there something which prevents you from inserting the images you've edited in GKON directly into Pages? Copy and Paste either from the Finder or from GKON, Drag and Drop from the GKON or Finder, or the Insert => Choose menu in Pages all seem to do the trick. Why have you chosen to make your life more difficult? To this jaundiced eye, you appear to have chosen to be entrenched in yet another ID-10T error scenario. PEBKAC. If I've missed my mark, it is again due to the lack of even more specific information, from which one might divine the possible purpose Photos is being used, when its facilities and more are at the ready at hand in GraphicConverter. Once the photo image has been inserted into a Pages document, it can easily be resized and repositioned. Perhaps the the largest advantage, to those who have attempted to assist you over the months since you began transitioning beyond OS 10.6.x, is that it will give you one less thing to whine about. - -- David Ritz <dritz@mindspring.com> Be kind to animals; kiss a shark. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- iEYEARECAAYFAlc6EZAACgkQUrwpmRoS3uvKSwCgtofVf0Hp2ZK2gpax5P6hwve/ HV8AoP27j+j/8buEix8N3WjXE4TEOySO =a/fb -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----

I'm not here to act as Erilar's personal tutor; something into which she may actually consider checking. I, for one, am tired of playing Erilar's guessing games. I suspect others are too. There's more than enough information in GraphicConverter's online documentation and Help files. One just has to be interested enough in finding solutions for themselves, before launching yet another very public hissyfit, all of which seem to caused by user ignorance, user error or both. Looking under the *Picture* menu in GraphicConverter, there are many options for these mentioned adjustments and more, with the glaring exception of 'exposure'. My experiences suggest that exposure is most readily controlled at the time of -- you guessed it -- exposure. Levels, curves, brightness, hue, contrast, color, color balance, histogram, highlights, shadows and rotation are all adjustable after the exposed image is written to a storage medium. This is before checking for additional processing options found under the Effects and Filters menus of GraphicConverter. /me still wonders why Erilar feels she's so dependent upon Photos, an application she's done nothing but disparage. - -- David Ritz <dritz@mindspring.com> Be kind to animals; kiss a shark. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- iEYEARECAAYFAlc6e5UACgkQUrwpmRoS3ut6lACeLemzpWrJP+2oEIfZkY/dVQnl 93EAniGvXDV4B7vP7/v3pPnOwXqkBZvs =wSy8 -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----

I'll be specific. In the latest version of GC 9.7.5, look to the Picture menu. What she wants is obvious. I've used GC since the mid nineties but am far more familiar with the old versions. I hardly know how to use the newest version, since I don't manipulate images much anymore. I do like to support Mr. Lemke. Brightness, contrast and hue have been integral to the application for years and years with a slider bar for each but maybe not in the Picture menu. I don't remember. GC is a amazing application. I wish I was young enough to relearn its newest awesome and affordable capabilities. But I'm not. I use it mostly nowadays to group a bunch of photos together into a family splash-screen with just a bit of size and color adjustment, but I'll buy GC 10. [end of promo from a GC fan] leo

If I could only have one image editor, that would be it. I can open and manipulate virtually any format I've ever used and saved, and it's batch processing is a huge time saver. -- If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the precipitate.

I've been using it AND upgrading it since somewhere in the early 1990s, but until a few months ago was doing most of my graphics work in ColorIt!, so I probably haven't explored its felicities properly. It's one of the tiny few software programs I use that has never dumped features I was using with an upgrade. I suspect I tried to do something it did not do and went looking elsewhere too soon. Because I don't always have time and opportunity to carefully set up each individual shot I take, I often find instances where the most interesting ones need post-editing. Previously, for several decades, I could do that in a single app that also let me produce printable finished pages could be printed or saved as albums on my iPad. I've been spoiled. -- Erilar, ancient biblioholic medievalist via iPad

Experiment with the following, and if you aren't convinced, read what the GraphicConverter User's Manual says about these features: Effect -> Unskew (Set Proportion) Filter -> Xe847 Picture -> numerous brightness/color/level/etc. options. Picture -> Rotate -> other value with line

As I said, although I've updated my GC, I obviously have missed some of its newer features, in part because I didn't need them until the old laptop died rather suddenly(fortunately AFTER its files had been transferred, though to a newer laptop that couldn't use the old software). I need to sit down and investigate, but it will be after the upcoming trip. -- biblioholic medievalist via iPad
