Erilar is creating the document in Pages on her Mac, then copying the document to the Pages app on her iPad for showing to people. Pages on the Mac can easily turn off the spelling features (as I pointed out in my first post in the thread - at that point, there was no clue that there was an iPad involved, given that this was posted in a Mac newsgroup and there was no mention of an iPad in the original post). In Pages on the iPad, it is also possible to turn off the spell checking (which gets rid of the red underlines), but apparently Erilar didn't find that either. In the individual document: spanner icon near top right corner to open the Tools menu > Settings > Check Spelling > OFF. If the document was being created on the iPad rather than the Mac, then autocorrect might still get in the way, but that can be turned off for the entire device, in Settings > General > Keyboards > Auto-Correction. (There is also a global "Check Spelling" setting there, only available if Auto-Correction is enabled, which Pages overrides with a per-document setting that is available whether or not Auto-Correction is globally enabled.) -- David Empson dempson@actrix.gen.nz

I print my albums and combine them with booklets, maps, etc., in notebooks. The current one is not that far along yet. However, I also save a copy on my iPad. I moved an unfinished copy to Pages on the iPad and found the underlining moved with it. That's when I went back to the laptop, found more things to turn off that did no good, and finally found out how to "teach" the stupid Pages program to spell, word by laborious word. -- biblioholic medievalist via iPad

I have Pages 5.6.1 on my desktop Mac Pro and Pages 2.6.1 on an iPad. On your Mac, turn off the spell checker by selecting Spelling and Grammer > Check Spelling While Typing until the check mark is not showing next to that menu item. You will also want to turn off the "Correct Spelling Automatically" item from that same menu. I.e., select it until the check mark disappears. The iPad program has its own spell checker, so even if you turn off spell-checking on your Mac, any document created on your Mac with a spelling error (according to Pages) transferred to your iPad will again show the red squiggly line under the "error". To turn off spell-checking on your iPad, touch the wrench icon in the menu bar at the upper-left of the iPad screen. Touch "Settings" from the menu that appears. Touch "Check Spelling", the first item in the menu that appears, until the button/bar is all white, with no green showing. The red squigglies should disappear from your document. -- Jim Gibson

This was simple with .jpeg albums and iPhoto. It's simple with Pages too. You just refuse to tell anyone what you are doing, so you naturally won't get many suggestions about how to change what you are doing to get what you want. Your choice. If you need to put a "page" on your iPad, print to PDF and transfer the PDF to iBooks. You can do that at least four ways: 1. Sync with iTunes. 2. Mail it to yourself, open in Mail on iPad, Copy to iBooks. 3. Upload to a web page, view in Safari on iPad, Copy to iBooks. 4. Put in Dropbox, open on iPad, etc. Print to PDF, print to paper; neither includes the spelling lines. Which of course, you could have turned off long ago.
