This is the Mac apps news group and there is no app called Game Center
for Mac OS.

Look again. /Applications/Game\ Center.app on my Mac is version 2.0 and
was created Tuesday, 5 May 2015 at 02:05

But I'd also like to get rid of the IOS version which is even more
irritating.

no they don't. that was a bug that has long been fixed.

Oh, yeah, I definitely believe you've tried every game in the store and
none of them try to get us to log into game center.

I have deleted the ones that were doing so, but I doubt the nagging was
a bug rather than intentional barbarity.

no need, since the game center bug was in ios, not the individual games.

> I have deleted the ones that were doing so, but I doubt the nagging was

it was a bug.

any game that supports game center, whether or not the user chooses to
actually use it, caused it to autolaunch. that bug has been fixed.

i don't remember exactly when it appeared, but i think it was ios 9. it
no longer does it, which means it was fixed at some point between last
september (when ios 9 came out) and march, when ios 9.3 was released, a
span of about six months. not a big deal.

the point is that it does not happen anymore.

Yep, nospam pointed that out (thanks) - I had completely forgot about the
Mac app.

You can do it in iOS 9.3 right now:

<http://www.cultofmac.com/406594/ios-9-3-officially-supports-hiding-stock-apps-heres-how-to-do-it/>

There are tumors that Apple will allow you to do it without additional
software in a future version of iOS.

I had forgotten about that. But now that I read it, and it is a "beta,"
I think I'll wait. I already know how to hide them on the last screen.
The biggest problem with Game Center is that some games nag you to log
in to it. They don't last very long on my device.

Hiding the Game Center probably doesn't stop that. I don't want to
_hide_ things that are unneeded, I want to _remove_ them and free up
space. Especially those that are not only unneeded, but also obnoxious.

It was all very well going about pure logic and how the universe was
ruled by logic and the harmony of numbers, but the plain fact was that
the disc was manifestly traversing space on the back of a giant turtle
and the gods had a habit of going round to atheists' houses and smashing
their windows.

+1! I've NEVER run it. Who is the bozo who's yanked my chain via it? I
didn't even set up a GC handle on it. It's annoying to have the 1 on it.
I had thought that I'd delete it sometime. At least now I know to not
waste my time trying. :/ Thanks for that info.

I don't have OCD, but I do have CDO. It's like OCD but in
alphabetical order, the way it should be.
