Thanks for the reinforcement. Well, er,I was actually trying to point out that "prediction" has a wide range of meanings. At one extreme it's a mere guess, at the other extreme, it's a certainty implied by some set of premises. Eg the weather prediction for three months from today is a guess, for tomorrow's weather it's a high probability calculation, and next year's solar eclipse predictions are certainties. Of course, most predictions are probabilistic. That's the nature of life, the universe, and everything.[1] Within the scope of quantum mechanics, it's all probabilities, but those probabilities in general can be calculated to much higher precisions (--> smaller error margins) than the weather or the economy. BTW, a lot of people believe that explicability = predictability. The two terms are neither synonyms nor implications of each other. [1] The answer to the question isn't 42, it's 1/137.
