The game however is very on the action RPG side. Just to add the information, if you play on normal the game is really hard in the intro mission until you got a hang of the fighting (which i have not entirely since i overlooked several aspects) You can change the difficulty setting on the fly fortunately. But I personally would recommend start off with easy and once you feel comfortable enough go for normal. Normal is where hard is on most other games. While easy is too much press the button switching. Normal forces you into tactical strategy planning because with simple button switching you definitely will be roasted especially in one of the intro missions (no spoilers there) So before you go for normal, make sure you know how to apply potions (you only can do that in mediation mode, the game is not too clear here) how to change the signs and how to use them and how to use bombs etc... in combat and learn the different combat moves like rolls etc.... Reading the manual for all that is vital, because the game is rather unclear with its help texts and the help texts in combination with dense action are not really that helpful. I personally like this, CDProject simply did not care about mass appeal here and throws the player directly into the action. I guess they will hear a lot of moaning of people who think they stupiditly can press the button and will die constantly on everything above easy. But I personally love it that this game forces you on and off to different strategies there and that it does not do too much handholding. Also feel free to run away makes sense in a lot of situations :-) Feels sort of like the pc games of the 90s and until mid 2000s before the consolish handholding and mass apeal streamlining (aka making the games soulless and dumb) overtook. Btw. another hint, for the intro missions if you play them in sequential order you will get a grip easier, if you are in for a treat play them in non sequential order :-) Either way CD Project, with this game you got your rank in the games hall of fame along with Origin and others :-) Best (Action) RPG of the last years, an absolute classic. I dont think there will be any RPG this year which can beat this game.
