I believe it. Mind = blown. Thanks Bill for making this happen, and also for the excellent documentation and communication (as usual).

Hi Martin,

Thank you but I was heavily coached:) Like I say "standard parts"... this
truly is "grunt programming". Keeping it small enough to run in MS-DOS
memory-wise and keeping my promise to Sheldon that I'd make a different
converter than his are the only two things that kept me awake long enough to
finish this to this point. I'll be doing some more polishing of the code
before it's finally version 1.0.

As far as docs go, I've got about 10-20 or so already mostly written...
it'll take a week or so to get the html versions out there and I have cc65
demo programs that work with this stuff still to distribute etc. But wanted
to join the Christmas Rush!

Have a good one!

Bill

But they're not WOZ approved!

OTH the Apple II is not Buckels Approved. At least not yet, but it's slowly
getting closer. Perhaps in another year or two.

That's another point, it would be nice if I could get
it to work. I see the window open and immediately it
closes. I don't get to do anything with it.

I'll try going to the Command window first and type
it in. That just occurred to me that it must be an
command line program.

Ok, now that I've gotten it to work, it worked.

Only I converted 'rwizard.bmp' so I don't really know
how I like it until I have a BMP that I want to use
over on the //e or IIgs. I have some that I would
like to see on the IIgs, but I have so much going on
right now. Everything must have a purpose Neo, so
it may be a while before I do anything with B2D.exe
seriously.

Otherwise, I do like it. I'll like it more when it
works in the GUI. 8>)

That is impressive! Looks better than I thought DHGR could look. Even
HGR looks better than I would have guessed possible.

Thanks for the feedback and the compliment Jerry. Sheldon Simms AppleWin
NTSC makes a cool presentation and his conversion palettes also help a great
deal to make this look good:)

Interesting how Apple Computer witheld dithering technology and
capitalization of composite video.

After some more thought...

It is more important to note that the screemshots in this document of mine
were from AppleWin NTSC which is in fact considered accurate, and likely a
great deal more accurate than something from a TV tuner card when it comes
to real Apple II colors.

I also think you need to review the entire context of this document of mine,
and understand its "historiczal significance" before requesting any changes.
I would also appreciate the original images that you have used for your
conversions as well as the real Apple II output for your conversions before
I put further time into this request.

Your BASIC concept of plotting is a good one and could be easily applied to
BLOADING a 16 color bmp created from a 6 color palette in The GIMP much like
Cybernesto's VBMP. I used the same approach to create raster overlays in an
Autolisp (Autocad) script writer written in compiled BASIC in the 80's on a
PC XT.

Setting the palette bits using groups of 7 or 14 after plotting would work
essentially the same way as what Sheldon and I are doing in our HGR
convertersion code. Your end result would not need our converters; it would
be a "Classic" and Pure AppleSoft BASIC program. It would not require the
overhead of a script either nor some wierd scripting language. Just a 16
color BMP with a palette to be mapped from.

If you are adamant about me changing this document without providing me (all
of us) with both the real output and the original images for a more detailed
comparison, I can as easily remove all mention of the Ghetto converter, but
I think you would be further ahead putting some effort into this. Ghetto is
fundamentally a good idea. It's not a hack.

Bill
