The results can be downloaded from the bottom of my JOYCE page: <http://www.seasip.info/Unix/Joyce/>. Having typed in 400-odd programs, mostly in Mallard BASIC, my thoughts are: * The idea of printing checksums against each listing line was a brilliant one; it's a great pity this facility wasn't native to all 1980s microcomputer BASICs. * Would it have hurt to print the listings in a font where '1' and 'l' looked more different? * I'd prefer not to have to type any more variations on DEF FNat$(x,y)=CHR$(27)+"Y"+CHR$(x+32)+CHR$(y+32) if I can help it. Also, I hadn't expected to write any new PCW software in 2012. But when I came across NEWDRV, a type-in listing that I submitted back in January 1993 and which never worked properly, I had to rewrite the thing so it actually did work. NEWDRV2 can be downloaded from <http://www.seasip.demon.co.uk/Cpm/software/amstrad.html>. Its purpose is to add an extra 'virtual' floppy drive sharing the first physical drive, the same way that A: and B: do on a single-drive PCW. (Crossposted to c.os.cpm and c.s.sinclair because Mallard BASIC is on-topic for these groups; those with even more time on their hands than me may want to experiment with adapting the programs for the +3 CP/M screen, for example. I've included a version of the 'Ethernet' game in issue 24 adapted for the 24x32 screen). -- John Elliott Thinks: This is what a nice clean life leads to. Hmm, why did I ever lead one? -- Bluebottle, in the Goon Show
