FreeBMD servers have capacity issues at intervals. Timeouts on any system
including PeeCees with Firefox or IE in use will show the problem.

In the periods where such timeouts occur, try again at a time when the USA
is likely to be sleeping. Remember that the USA has precious little
history[1] for those with european ancestry so their ancestral searches
quickly end up in the UK or western europe.

[1] Archaeological digs in the UK can start with big shovels or a JCB, in
the USA they tend to start with a paintbrush dusting layers off more
gradually.
