Very odd. Weird thing happen when in Australia. I'll try sending from a
different e-address.
IIRC  mailing groups require the e-address you signed up with but news
groups don't care. (Or is it the other way round?)

Re-filetyping as fb1 didn't help.

I've solved the problem by converting them all to Armadeus files with
SoundCon.  Doesn't seem to have degraded the quality markedly.

I'll investigate on the R5 m/c when I get home. It may indeed be a R4.39
thing.

Presentations I've previously constructed on the R5 machine run happily
on the VA. I presume because the WAV audio files have already been
successfully allied to the slide.
