Besides that the problem was and remains at best poorly
phrased (and I agree that guesswork around here should
rather be banned), there is a much simpler and canonical
way to define "midpoint" in a modular space, namely the
midpoint along the shortest of the two possible paths.
And that's actually a quite common kind of calculation...
