I don't know about boot manager, but LVM most certainly does work on flash drives. In a system with 
LVM, flash drives larger than 2GB cannot be accessed until LVM information has been added specifying 
the drive letter to be used and the drive has been ejected and re inserted.

I have never tried making a bootable flash drive so I can't comment on that.
