That will change in 4 tears time.

I was brought up to believe that you should never give offence if you

whole academic subjects, such as 'gender studies', devoted to it.

Freudian slip.

IN my 75 years I have never seen political leaders more incompetent and
yet with greater power to do harm, than now.

And that is in almost every country.

The times have changed. But the politics have not. Yet.

Perhaps it was youthful naivete but I remember the JFK years with the
'best and the brightest' with some fondness. Then the music died. I
recovered some hope with Reagan but it's been downhill from there.
Downhill, hell, more like off a cliff.

I definitely thought Reagan was good in that he listened to smart people.
Was never a JFK raver., All seemed too good to be true. like Obama...

Future generations will wonder in bemused amazement that the early
twenty-first century’s developed world went into hysterical panic over a
globally average temperature increase of a few tenths of a degree, and,
on the basis of gross exaggerations of highly uncertain computer
projections combined into implausible chains of inference, proceeded to
contemplate a rollback of the industrial age.

That's what sold me on Reagan. He said something like 'I don't know about
all this stuff -- but I know how to find people who do'.

After Ike and Mamie it seemed like a breathe of fresh air -- like Obama.
Well, half of it -- Johnson smelled more like horseshit.

https://www.texasmonthly.com/arts-entertainment/a-texan-looks-at-lyndon/

I remember reading that at the time. The John Birch Society was handing
them out and campaigning for Goldwater. 'Landslide' gets thrown around
casually, but '64 can't be described any other way.

I don't know how Kennedy would have handled the Vietnam pig in a poke that
Eisenhower left him but Johnson turned it into a debacle. Between that and
the civil rights crap passed on his watch his legacy lives on.

That's an asshole that when photographed lifting his beagle by the ears
said 'The dog likes it.'

I heard a guy yapping on the phone a couple stalls over at work.
I flushed anyway.

I believe Larry needed to precede "s//_/" with "normal ":

In the first pass, install perl. :-)

A little memory from the Reagan years, courtesy of Mojo Nixon

Suppose for a moment that the automobile industry had developed at the same
rate as computers and over the same period: how much cheaper and more
efficient would the current models be? If you have not already heard the
analogy, the answer is shattering. Today you would be able to buy a
Rolls-Royce for $2.75, it would do three million miles to the gallon, and
it would deliver enough power to drive the Queen Elizabeth II. And if you
were interested in miniaturization, you could place half a dozen of them on
a pinhead.

Reagan mainly listened to his psychic and Jerry Fallwell.

He single handedly started the country on a path that lead
to the current orange clown show (with help from that fool
Newt Gingrich and radio loudmount Rush).
