Oh yea ... I just gave up on the BSDs. There were multiple issues where the fight just wasn't worth it to push through the mission. I'll harden a skinny Debian instead ... maybe one of those cruder-looking tiled desktops, make it LOOK more like something different :-) Really though, in some ways the BSDs ARE years behind the times ...... best choice, imho, is Ghost - they mellowed it out a bit, smoother cruising, but it STILL doesn't do several of the things I needed in a way that would add week$ to the project. Also looked at Solaris and OpenIndiana. Solaris is as big a pain as OpenBSD. The OpenIndiana IS a bit easier to work with, but it's awfully obscure and I'd worry about timely security updates. It may have some other future uses however.
