Here too. Cannot sleep as you I suppose. :-(

May be "dd" is an option. dd the whole old hard disk over to the new hard
disk. That might take hours or even a day though. Clonezilla might be
another option. Clone the whole disk over.

There might be issues with drivers, as the new computer will likely have
a different GPU. It might not boot into the GUI. I had this when I
imported an existing HD from a dead computer into a new
computer. Couldn't even see the TTY on a non GUI shell. Problem was the
new computer needed microcode for the APU (is a hybrid of a CPU and
GPU). Cannot clearly remember how I circumcised the problem ("Am to old
for this s**t" [TM]). I think I booted from an USB stick, mounted ans
chrooted the hard disk. Launched the packet manager and installed the
needed microcode package. To my surprise booting from the hard disk
worked.
