As for Oligarchs they all suffer from fear of being subverted. Look at the foolish moves on the part of the current American CIC. The earliest clear account of this which I happen to have read about is the founding of the Kamakura Shogunate in Japan around the 11th or 12th Century. The leader of the Minamoto (Genji) samurai family that took over was so consumed by fear of displacement that he murdered all but his wife whose family took over the Shogunate since he had left no heirs alive. That includes his half-brother, Yoshitsune who had been instrumental in his takeover from the Taira (Heiki) family, his son and his daughter. as well as closer male relatives in the Genji family. I studied Japanese history to understand better the manga and anime I was watching about 20 years ago. As I have mentioned before Microsoft should abandon Windows totally and just fix WINE then go straight to their own distribution of Linux or Unix or some other OS without the bad history. A kernel in Rust and a distro is being done. Debian is still having a HURD release but I haven't read the evaluations of it yet. Windows was provided, despite being the long term target of malware writers, with very little security in place. That was good for anti-virus software sales but not for the users. bliss
