The normal channels were not permitted to sell Win2k quite a few years 
ago. I would really like to know if these are legal?

Are you honestly saying that you can still get Win2k drivers for modern 
hardware?

The world really hasn't had a chance, because it is still not possible 
to walk into Best Buys and buy a computer with Linux preinstalled.

Netbooks with Linux preinstalled sold quite well, this is why Microsoft 
had to pull out all the stops to have them marginalised and removed from 
the shelves.
