smtp server, up 359 days, handling up to some 10,000 emails per minute.
The back end (mailstore) handles considerably more emails (it gets fed
from multiple front-end mailers) and is even more robust. The pop/imap/
web mailer needs somewhat more maintenance and fiddling (mostly
featuritis), so it's only been up 267 days.

Note, however, that the 359 days is "per server", rather than "per
service"; the last time we had an actual email service outage due to
system failure was about 3 years ago when we had a lengthy power outage
and the generator failed (couldn't deliver power "clean" enough for the
UPS to pass it.)

The media server/myth box in the living room runs until the hardware
needs twiddling or we blow a breaker; uptimes of six months are trivially
accomplished, despite its recording, playback, use as internal file, web
and DB server and a few other tasks loaded on for good measure.

Linux? It's about as close to "set it and forget it" as an OS can be. :)
