I have been testing your ideas.

I have installed All-in-one Toolbox's in my old tablet, and Greenify in
my phone. The later seems more like what I need: it is not only an app
starting once on boot, but this particular app seems to start again and
again after I kill it. I look at battery usage, and if I see the
possibility to kill it, I do.

Let's see what happens with this app in the next days.
