Disappointed Yank here. So, people, now we know what happens when you slash research funding, denigrate science, and let loose a cultural wave of anti-science sentiment that devalues knowledge and those who would pursue it. Kudos to the Chinese for going after science and innovation – glad someone is doing it now that this new generation of Americans has decided they can't be bothered to make an effort in any science any less lucrative than predictive marketing, search engine optimisation, and "social media." Back in the 50s and 60s the USA led the world in science and innovation. Those days are over. Doesn't have to be that way. Imagine everything the post WWII generation fought to build. The next generation and the one after that have decided to piss it all away.
