I have not built gcc even once in the last 20 years, so any change that makes it build faster must have zero impact on the functionality of the compiler or it will be simply a net disadvantage to me. (This includes any slow-down in the rate of development caused by taking time to make the build faster.) You might be saying that gcc is pointlessly slow, but that would need more evidence than a few build times. <snip> -- Ben.
