This being a discussion group, the expectation is that follow-up questions would be asked if simply getting a direct answer wasn’t enough to get you on the right track. I have no idea what you already know (or not) or how you learn, so it is generally better not to expect long answers (or ask questions that require them). > Apparently I don't have sufficient experience. I’d hardly call it “interactive”, but Programming Ruby did for some reason, which lead to the confusion. That site, although still useful, is quite dated and may not be the best way for a newcomer to learn Ruby these days (depending on your other programming background). > again, I apologize for my 'snippiness', and I would say it is more a > reaction to getting my hand slapped every time I have a question in a > particular group I frequent. No apology is necessary; you caught and corrected your own behavior, which is far more appreciated. Consider filtering out the idiots in the future rather than letting them be a continuing negative influence. -- "Well, here I am." Jubal Early, Objects in Space, Firefly
