4th hit: Arithmetic Logic Unit (hardware) -- Wikipedia
ALU class -- software version or simulation thereof.

The hardware version of Dennis's distributed design would be 
interesting. Spreadsheets are based in part on the same idea of 
distributed logic and arithmetic.
