Unfortunately our conversation now appears to have descended into the 
profane. This was a mistake on my part but at the time I felt it was 
justified.

We have now come up against the law of diminishing returns so it's 
probably time to call it a day.

I'm not going anywhere by the way.

I'll state my case one more time as clearly and succinctly as I can.

I object to the wholesale 'ganging up' on anyone who apparently 
transgresses some nebulous unwritten rule of the society that is 
com.lang.java.programmer. All societies must have rules, that is 
uncontested, however the implementation of those rules should not be 
determined by some cadre of self-appointed self-righteous administrators 
of an unmoderated newsgroup. If someone transgresses, politely point out 
the error of their ways. It only takes one of you, not the whole group. 
But ... and here's the important bit, I can see no reason for the sort 
of behavior exhibited by certain readers of this group towards people 
who, for whatever reason, they decide have transgressed. Someone 
mentioned freedom of speech. I agree with freedom of speech however when 
a minority attempt to impose their collective will on an individual the 
first thing to suffer is that which you all profess to hold so dear.

That's it. If you still don't understand then I don't know what else to say.
