I agree. If it was about realtime constraints I would understand it, but 
the "distributed" part seems to contradict this, even though timeouts 
exist.

Maybe it's just because sometimes people don't like to give up control 
they once had, just to be sure they could if they needed, even though in 
99.99% of all cases they don't.
