I was referring to doing/specifying the same thing twice which is not the
same thing as avoiding typing.

The whole point is not avoid typing but:
1) avoid specifying the same thing twice
2) avoid making mistakes
3) while at it, having the code a lot more readable.
4) easier to maintain e.g. changing N declarations once rather than 2*N
