Spring today is a bundle of many different pieces of software. Spring started as a simple DI/IoC framework. But then they started adding stuff. They must somehow want to make it possible writing a full app only using Java SE and Spring. The added stuff are of varying quality. It has certainly become very huge with the consequence of being difficult to keep overview. Certain things has been replaced by standard features in Java EE 5 and 6. Some Spring users go completely overboard in using Spring resulting in very cluttered code. I don't think Spring sucks. But I do think that some of Spring sucks. And I think that a large portion of actual Spring usage sucks per the above reasons. Arne
