Thanks, Stefan and markspace for your suggestions. I agree that SSCCE's 
need to be short; I can't picture many people getting involved if there are 
hundreds (or thousands!) of lines of code in the example. But sometimes, 
try as you might, you can't get the example down to a size that feels 
appropriate for a newsgroup post so I thought I'd see what should be done 
with bigger examples.

As it turns out, the cause of the issue that I was having finally revealed 
itself in the process of creating the SSCCE so I no longer to post one. 

I'll hit another roadblock eventually though, so your advice here will come 
in handy then.
