Yes, proven to create the worst pollution on earth.

Capitalism is better because you have to temp someone with good product at good price. We don't have unregulated capitalism alas, if we did mass produced housing and elimination of government school and the follwing death of all non engineering n biotek school would make us all rich beyond our wildest dreams because henry ford and deming activities would be copied without restraint.

Sorry, I thought you were talking about atomic trains like they showed
in the magazines in the 50s. But otherwise, the rest of your stuff is
pure nonsense. I see a parallel with your view of the Forth language.
That and I also notice your apparent inability to trim the posts you

Do you think that everybody's values rotate around sex and money solely? This parallels the thoughts of left wing anarchists, who are anti-capitalist rather than capitalist. Yet both ( American ) Libertarians and ( Leftist ) Anarchists suppose that we are only physical beings and so the meeting of physical want's and needs are the only possible preoccupation. I will agree with the fascists in one regard, that is is possible for man to be a heroic being, that there is a spirit, and we can have goals and values other than our most base biological ones. I am not an atheist. So, I do not identify any longer with either the American version of Libertarians or with the Anarchists as both tend to be materialistic and atheistic. Rather I believe in an open ended somewhat chaotic multiverse without a defined single cause. I may be the only one on the planet to think so but anyway. The state is not sacred, but only the result of groups of people gathering together and using aggression to better themselves at the expense of others. Ultimately balance may need to be achieved through machine rule. Yet our computers are so primitive compared to the human brain and the mind that it may never be possible to replicate such intelligence.

Futurism is Fun

Do you realize that you replied to my message but quoted gavino without

No need to apologize. I guess I asking you to do the attributions
correctly. Does your newsreader not add them automatically? Does it
add them the way you did in this response?

Well, I am using Google reader. What I left above is what it "likes" to do. I was cutting everything out including the top line, and just leaving the few lines of text I thought relevant. I just seems to add what might be called 'fuzz' . Perhaps in the future I will do this....

I think that unregulated lassie faire capitalism is the way to go. Ayn Rand was right about everything except israel which to m is sand and usa welfare. I am polythestic since I think one or many myths are as good as any other. I aos respect the ideas of Henry George. In a free market everything reduces to sex and money. My meaning is that all your dreams of what and what isn't evaporate as soon as you ask someone to pay you. The money someone values your services at is reality. The other side of this is wen you want sex. The looks of who will willingly go to bed with you are a barometer of th reality of how you look and your attractiveness. Now you can override this with money, but then all bets are off. Without these factors to give you a signal as to how you are doing any dream in your head has no reference to reality. You could think of yourself as king of the goblins and the handsomest man on earth.

Search for Galen Winsor on YouTube and go watch the lecture he gave in
the 80's. It's very interesting.

I don't know much about the subject, so I'll not comment any further,
but you might find his alternative view-point interesting. Galen
Winsor designed reactor plants for GE.

In fact, to save you looking, here are two very very interesting
links:

The Nuclear Scare Scam: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ejCQrOTE-XA
A Free Nuclear Economy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x42qi7Fz1L0

In the second video, from 1985 Galen explains the real science behind
radiation disposal and nuclear energy safety.

If it weren't for his background it would perhaps be very easy to
dismiss him as a nut-job. As I say, I reserve judgement, but he makes
some very interesting points. Hopefully you'll enjoy these videos if
you get the time to watch them - perhaps you'll have a chance over the
holidays!

Mark

It's a scam alright, I watched the first video (more than an hour long) and
I had to restart my PC after some two minutes because is was completely
blocked.
The only referece of Galen Winsor is Youtube. Nothing in Wikipedia. Not
that Wikipedia is the one and only law of Media and Persia, but still.

Sheeee-it! A hard one to view, very long download. But when someone
starts talking about how energy will be too cheap to meter, I tune out.
Why does it take an hour and a half to explain why the most dangerous
substances on earth can be generated safely? Because they can't and
this is most likely just a crap load of... well, crap!

If I am wrong I'll happily eat my words. Maybe I can download it for
later viewing, but I can't take the time now. Care to summarize his
points? Here are mine...

1) Risk of nuclear accident may be small, but consequences are HUGE.
Integral will never be small enough. But most won't care since they
weren't affected... Fukushima is a good example, it didn't happen in the
US and most power plants can be run over by a tsunami so no worries,
right?

2) WTF do we do with nuclear waste that needs to be held for 1 million
years?!!! To illustrate the significance of this, they are currently
examining ways to mark the grounds around any future disposal site so
that people can understand this is very dangerous stuff long after any
current languages are forgotten! REALLY! Only Hugh's slide rules will
still be around.

Rick

PS I just got a small dose of his talk and he mentions the Army manual
regarding radiation exposure. The Health Physics Society got them to
include a statement of "record your dose". He says if you don't have a
sunburn, you don't have a problem... ok, one crackpot down...

No, you can't say that about nuclear power as such.

Nuclear fission power has a huge problem.
In comparison nuclear fusion has few.
If only people start to make the distinction.

(For more than 100 years now people have realised that in the end
the only solution to having unlimited energy is fusion.
We may not need unlimited energy, and get by with using energy
wisely.)

Yes, one of them is that it doesn't work (at least for a reasonable
amount of money and development time). Since it doesn't work, it also
won't explode or create toxic waste. While we now, after more than 60
years of development, can create more energy than we have put in, we
still haven't figured out how to take that energy out - currently, it
just heats up the supercooled, superconducting coils.

> If only people start to make the distinction.

Oh yeah, the distinction is really great: We have two sorts of nuclear
power. One that works, but occasonally explodes and we haven't solved
the waste problem, and one that doesn't work, and its development is a
constant and huge money sink. Let's go with the solution that doesn't
work and sinks a lot of money.

We have a well-working fusion reactor 8 light minutes away. It supplies
us with a constant flow of energy, and will continue to do so for the
next 5 billion years, and the amount of energy we get from there is
tremendous. All we have to do is to put some absorbers for that energy
on our rooftops or on other unused land; and maybe build some long-
distance high-voltage-direct-current lines around the world to avoid
needing night-time storage.
