I assume you never got any response on this.  Are you still interested in it?

I am to tell you that Arnold has stated that he no longer reads this group
(that is, he only posts GAWK new version announcements, but otherwise does
not read or post to the Usenet newsgroup) (*).

I believe that Andrew (the other active GAWK dev) does sometimes (rarely)
read here, but I would not count on it.

If you want Arnold's attention, you will need to posts to one of the GAWK
mailing lists on http://lists.gnu.org

(*) In fact, he has also stated that he does not read the "help-gawk" list
either, so you will need to post to specifically bug-gawk.
