My apologies, I have asked this before but failed to save the answer. I promise to save it this time! I have a multiplot, two plots one above the other, both with the same x-axis. The y-ranges are different and gnuplot chooses different numbers of decimals. This leads to the two plot boxes having different lengths along x. How do I force this length to be the same, so that the two x-axes line up? I know I can ask for the numbers to be written out with the same number of decimals but I don't like numbers like 1.000, 2.000, etc. There is a way to do this while keeping the y-axis numbers as they are now. -- Dieter Britz

Hi Dieter, besides the answers in the old 'big brothered' thread, you might also try my script I have written to simplify plot alignments. It is most useful for multiplots in regular matrix pattern (e.g. 3x2 graphs in a frame). http://www.astro.uni-bonn.de/~ithies/gnuplot/mplayout/ Best wishes, Ingo
