Right, DGROUP names the default DATA group. One could have multiple data groups, equivalent to FORTRAN COMMON areas. I was wondering about the use of the segment registers of the 8086 until I came across the segment group model. Only then those composite addresses made sense, without reloading a sement register with every single data access. DoDi
