It may be showing its age, but I think that "Crafting A Compiler in C" by Fischer and LeBlanc is worth looking at. The original "Crafting A Compiler" was written in the late 80s when Ada was going to conquer the world and was also pushing compiler technology. Circa 1991 I translated the Ada code and pseudo-code into C for the C version of the book. Once I did that I finally understood how LR parsers work. :-) (How did I get to do the work? I did my MS work under Rich LeBlanc at Georgia Tech and had stayed in touch. :-) -- Aharon (Arnold) Robbins arnold AT skeeve DOT com P.O.
