Better: They can afford to keep SPARC in the backwaters of
performance.  SPARC has never been cutting-edge, and was farther from
it the older it became, yet it has survived architectures that were
closer to the cutting edge (e.g., Alpha).  SPARCs are not bought for
their fast performance, so why spend lots to make them perform fast?
