Rob says just to put in my TPG password Sorry to be tardy in my response but I have been inordinately busy today. I can't be much assistance to you here as I have always been with Optus. My modem, a Netgear EVG2000 unit, has Optus custom firmware. It was set up by the Optus tech way back 4 years ago and I haven't needed to touch it since, apart from tweaking the wifi and various network parameters. What I cannot do is update it using Netgear firmware updates, only Optus updates, and so far there has been none of those. I was given an Identical modem, also Optus, by a friend here who moved to a different provider. I presume it would be an auto setup as well. Would possibly need to get the Mac address registered if I wanted to use it as that was something that used to be the case with the Optus HFC cable network. NBN may be different. I have never really looked into it since it all just works. Delve into your TPG modem and just have a look how it's been set up. That way you can go back in and reset it manually should the need arise. While you're there, make a backup of the config file. Always handy to do that, just in case. > and username, and I can use this modem with my TPG account, and that's > no prob, I can do that without connecting to the net, but the MR setup > guide > <https://mrau-web-02.s3.amazonaws.com/au/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/Wi-Fi-Hub-Quick-Start-Guide.pdf> > step 4, says the modem will setup automatically, once I'm online, so > would that mean it will register me as a customer of MR?. DHCP is *Automatic* in that the DHCP server automatically allocates IP addresses to the client. Therefore the client should be set to *automatic* which, most likely, would be the *default*. By having your TV set to automatic, it would be set up to automatically receive and use whatever IP address the DHCP server allocates to it. No wonder he couldn't make a living in his *office support business*! He hasn't even go the basics down pat and, believe me, DHCP is pretty basic. Using DHCP is the default on most devices. -- Xeno
