Can't say I have seen that often at all.

Hasn’t happened with anything I buy.

Sure, it clearly makes it quicker to scan when you don’t have
to ensure the barcode is where the scanner can see it.

I don’t believe that the ink has anything to do
with it, the packaging is mostly fully printed.
