It looks like the screen handler is X11 even though there numerous
wayland related files on the 21.3 system.

However, while having only Chromium running on one screen, I opened
Firefox on the other. At that point the chromium window disappeared
but the sound continued. I then tried to open Sylpheed. Nothing
appeared on the screen.

I decided to uninstall the version of Firefox provided by Mint.
I rebooted and then downloaded and installed FF version 133 from the
Mozilla site.

Right now I have Chromium, Firefox and Sylpheed running as well as Nemo.
It looks like the problem is solved!

But no answer. I hate it when that happens.
Happy new Year
