I've followed your comments on grc's newsgroup and appreciated your 
insights, so I'm a bit sorry to see this post. I am currently using Mint 
17.0 Mate and have been mulling a change. Most of the googling I do to 
look for solutions to issues seem to refer to Cinnamon rather than Mate. 
Also my friend has recommended KDE to me and you have championed MX-15. 
So my current thoughts are possibly moving to MX-15 with KDE. If this is 
not a smooth experience I'll have to rethink Mint with Mate / Cinnamon / 
KDE. I have only recently installed a default MX-15 (agreed the forum is 
brilliant) and haven't yet used KDE. So now I think I'll install the 
latest Mint with KDE and see if I like KDE, rather than jumping straight 
in to a trial of MX-15 + KDE.

Please let us know in due course where you settle.
