Hey GNU/Linux enthusiasts! (Distro lackeys go away.) My marvelous Gentoo portage machine recently updated glib and several associated packages. Then, my equally marvelous Midnight Commander suddenly could not open files. WTF! What was a poor boy to do? Fortunately, the equally marvelous GNU/Linux community came to the rescue. A bug report and solution was already submitted (a LOT of people use MC): http://midnight-commander.org/ticket/4502 But the problem is not MC but that fucking glib, which is another product of the assholic freedesktop.org. Linus Torvalds, the benevolent dictator of the Linux kernel, has always enforced the basic dictum: do not break user space. Indeed, one can be assured that the essential kernel API will remain unchanged and all software will continue to function as per usual. But the fucking assholes at freedesktop.org will only say: "Fuck you. We can change the fucking API any time we fucking please without fucking prior notification." Those freedesktop.org assholes should be dragged into the street and beaten with heavy chains. -- Systemd: solving all the problems that you never knew you had.
