Both the US and the Soviets smuggled out large numbers of German rocket 
scientists. The Soviet version of Operation Paperclip was "Operation 
Osoaviakhim". The Soviets essentially kidnapped many of them and their 
families on one night (21 October 1946). The space race was largely a 
"Our Nazis are better than Your Nazis" contest.

Good grief. We went to the moon but the Apollo program was a fake?
The Nazi rockets were ordinary rockets.
