Yes, I was the same way as you until I was doing TurboTax on win 7 and
did not know what to do about stocks.

Went to a tax consultant asking for an hours time for questions.
He did not want to do so, but said to get his tax people to do my taxes
and give me the tax result for free. If I liked the result then pay them
and submit the tax forms.

I set down, start feeding the clerk name, address, phone, social security
number and she asks me have I been here already and worked with someone
else. I said first time here, and figured out TurboTax, had uploaded
all my data that I thought was just stored locally in my PC.
