L’Américain, qui a également conçu « Computer Space », le premier jeu
vidéo commercial, et cofondé Atari, boîte pionnière, s’est éteint à
81 ans.

Une des figures les plus influentes des débuts du jeu vidéo s’en est
allée. Ted Dabney, programmeur de Computer Space, le premier jeu vidéo
commercial, et de Pong, le premier succès de l’industrie, est mort
samedi 26 mai des suites d’un cancer, rapportent la presse américaine
et ses anciens collaborateurs.

L’historien américain du jeu vidéo Leonard Herman, qui fut l’un des
premiers à documenter en détail la genèse de l’industrie, a également
été le premier à relayer l’information de sa mort dans un post sur
Facebook. « Je viens d’apprendre que mon bon ami Ted Dabney,
cofondateur d’Atari, nous a quittés à l’âge de 81 ans. RIP cher ami.
Ton héritage vivra longtemps ! » ...
