I guess I haven't tried that many.  I like to get used to one and stick with it.  I've only really used Netscape, Agent, and Opera for any length of time.

That does seem odd, I just looked and you can change the compose and display, but not the list.

Dunno, I mark as read manually (or with filters).  It has another thing called "touched" when you click on one.  Blue if never touched, black if touched, grey if marked as read.
