What is the XA_SECONDARY clipboard?

Hi All,

 From "man xclip" I see that I have three clipboards:

      "primary" or XA_PRIMARY = mouse over and center click

      "clipboard" or XA_CLIPBOARD = <ctrl><c> <ctrl><V>

and

    "secondary" or XA_SECONDARY

I am very familiar with the first two.  What is XA_SECONDARY?
And how do I use it?
