Silly statements? I was just wanting him to check that things were 
properly connected and the usb ports were not broken. You'd be amazed 
how many broken USB ports I see on machines. Especially those on the 
front of desktops. I've seen, for example, a usb device that had broken 
the plastic out of the centre of the port and when it was put back in it 
was okay but putting another usb device in caused it to short out.

They are also a point that can fail at the motherboard. Not often but it 
does happen. There can also be a design issue with the front cable to 
the motherboard. Some only have 8 wires instead of 9. Whilst that was 
fine with USB1 with USB 2 it can be an issue, Of course USB 3 uses a 
completely different cable.

He may also have to enable usb legacy devices in the bios. There are so 
many things that can cause issues, however felix has a very poor record 
of giving enough information to resolve the issue.
