And the gist of what Mark Rowley said was, you must trust the police to 
be acting entirely properly and defending our communities and it is 
impertinent for you, a mere politician, to question their actions.

Reminds me how, in Minneapolis, the shootings by ICE agents were swiftly 
defended by ICE as entirely proper. And maybe that's the way we are now 
going - we are expected to trust the police rather than risk upsetting 
them by questioning their tactics.

Golders Green was our blessed plot. These attacks have poisoned the ground

My fear today is that this long and peaceful chapter of Jewish life in 
this country may now be ending. Because now I find myself writing yet 
another piece about yet another outrageous attack on Jews. In Amsterdam, 
in Bondi Beach, in Heaton Park. And on Wednesday in Golders Green. Home.

So yes it all feels close, our little town within a town is under 
concerted attack. And yet there’s a surreality to the whole thing too. I 
do not live in a state of fear or intimidation. I get up, I go to work, 
I live my privileged London life, the sun is still shining, the Thames 
is still gleaming. And so for me at least, this mostly doesn’t feel that 
real. Until there is a new outrage, and then it does again.

A hostile state, almost certainly Iran, is using paid actors, criminals, 
idiots, bigots, whoever it can find, to mount a terror campaign against 
Jewish targets in London. This is a profoundly alarming trend and the 
full force of the state should be brought to bear on it. The same model 
could be exploited by our adversaries in Moscow, too.

I don’t think my grandfather would recognise the challenge we now face 
in this country. He would be appalled to learn that the hatred he once 
fought in the skies over Europe has metastasised and arrived on the 
streets of Golders Green, next to the quiet little suburb where he made 
his home. I still believe in his Britain though.

I agree, and it seems that whilst it is plainly wrong to devise 
conspiracy theories about Jews, eg that they manipulate politicians, run 
the country, protect the interests of Israel rather than the interests 
of the UK, it seems it is perfectly okay to claim that lone attackers 
whether they are mentally ill or just thugs, are part of an Iranian plot 
to attack all Jews in the UK by using fellow-travellers and traitors who 
need to be hunted down. And, of course, that the occasional knife 
attacks or petrol bomb attacks are part of a pogrom and that Jews must 
now pack their suitcases and consider emigrating because they are no 
longer safe, anywhere.  The paranoid ravings of a few "spokesmen" for 
"the Jewish community" with the full support of certain politicians who 
think there are votes in banning demonstrations. Starmer's remarks about 
maybe banning protest marches could and should lose him thousands of 
votes in the forthcoming elections.
