In me second last job, I had a team lead who said we had to keep notes: 1) Being in a team, when you are out of office, other members of the team can either pick up where you left or at least tell people where you were when you left. 2) For yourself: when you pause some work, it can happen very fast that you forgot where you were and, more important, what you (already) tried (and why that didn't work ;-) ), so keeping notes will help you get back into a project faster. 3) Maybe you remember that sometime, somewhere you have seen a similar thing and you might be able to find the prior work and use that to find a solution for this problem (maybe the same solution as earlier). ... there are umpteen other reasons but these three spring to my mind immediately. To get a link to the NG: I use kate to keep track of my notes. Josef
